The progress of battery technology is astounding lately with improvements happening on a monthly basis, The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has 800V architecture & can charge 100km in 5 minutes. Take this new Chinese SAIC brand Feifan R derived from the (Roewe) brand, Depending on the model/battery pack the range is 606km or 642km with a 0-60 time from 3.8 seconds that would embarrass a Ferrari with a price tag of £25,518 in China, Rumored to be coming to Europe next year. https://carnewschina.com/2022/09/28/...-at-28500-usd/

Maybe if companies stopped concentrating on 0 to 60 times and spent more time on range it'd be different.

The thing with 0/60 times is that they are incidental with electric cars, manufacturers don’t go all out for performance they are looking for the best range possible from the size of battery that can be used in the allowed space. The 0/60 times are good as an electric motor generates its maximum output instantly if you stamp on the accelerator.

Sorry Maninder, But all this gobbledegook about global warming being caused by our use of I.C.E. vehicles, is nothing more than scare tactics. Can you tell me what is happening at the South Pole? No? Well let me tell you. The ice shelf has been getting thicker and larger for the last two years. How do you and the ‘believers ‘ explain that away? There are many more things I could tell you to look for, but I am to sick and tired of telling people to follow the real news, not the ‘global warming’ sycophants chanting. Sheep come to mind. Do you remember the little girl telling everyone that we only had TWO years before it is too late? Once again frantic whipping of the sycophants. Well again, that was a non starter. It’s over two years now, and what has changed? Nothing, only Russia has invaded Ukraine, which will have more of an affect on global warming than anything we can do. The world is going mad. .

Trap
I see these electric cars as a sort of trap, they are put there to limit your freedom of travel. Let's face it, all new chargers that are installed now have to be of the smart variety which can be controlled from central government, they have even talked about taking the charge back out of cars to supplement the power grid in times of need. Now I know there are many ev drivers out there that say, they are great, cheap to run and all that. Look to the past and the deisel car trap, when it used to be cheaper than petrol, so everyone bought one and then the government put the price up. Now they sell the ev purporting that it is better for the environment and reduces carbon emissions, this is all bs, the climate change thing is a farce, we need co2, we are carbon based lifeforms, plants take in the co2 and synthesise it into oxygen. The planet follows its natural cycle of warming up and cooling down, did co2 reduce during the stupid lockdowns we had, the simple answer is, no. We're being had again.
Just a thought and totally my opinion I love my fossil fuelled cars and hopefully am old enough to be gone during the NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- to come. |

Same goes for the pathetic response to the proposed new oil/gas exploration licences.
Better source "home" oil/gas than importing it, we are already using oil/gas from abroard as well as "home". One last point, so called fossil fuels are also the chemical feedstock necessary for many other things we currently need, not just as a power source. |
