I've lived in Longbridge for the last 23 years and I've watched them tear down the west works and north works over the last few months. I just can't get used to the new skyline around here. Long gone are the days when I watched transporter after trasporter leaving full of new cars. I've spent many weeks in the various parts of the factory over the years in my job at the various suppliers I've worked for but it's now over for Rover there.

Peugeot and Jaguar has also gone now just up the road at Coventry, I wonder where it will all end

Oh well, I suppose the world will still carry on with Jag at Castle Bromwich and Land Rover at Solihull, just with all this 'save the planet' brigade wingeing on and on about big cars....How long before they go belly up ??

Its very sad

Hi Jason, I don't have any pics at the moment, next time I take the dog for a walk down there I'll take my camera and get a few.

I noticed the NAC logo on one of the pics there. Is that Nanjing and if so, what are they doing there? I still don't know who got what after the demise of MG Rover but basically, was it so that SAIC got the 75 and Nanjing the rest, ie the other models and (part of) the plant?

Aha - I wondered where you had got to. Still remember SDV 146 then? Perhaps you don't realise, but that was my last (official) test car, and was pictured when it visited me, for the last time, for its EOT emissions test. I have still got the torpedo door badge and the (broken) doorhandle in my shed somewhere - happy days!
Your ears must have been burning, as I was talking about you and your colleagues in another thread, regarding the ride/handling of R75, and how BMW backed it off!

Nanjing are making the MGF there and production will be starting in the first half of 2007 iirc. I see lots of little chinese men scurring about all around here on a regular basis. My brother in law also had a letter from them to see if he wanted to go back there for the MGF line as here worked on it before the collapse. He off course declined as he's doing very well since he left.
