This is a good question and IMO - the key one. The problem we have in the UK is that the political elite of whatever party are all spawned from the same gene pool. And all of them seem to be from the shallow end.
I have for some years tried to vote for good Independent candidates who represent LOCAL issues. The Whip system means that true democracy is destroyed in my view. I would like to see the Whip system abolished - every vote in the HoC should be a free vote. It will be interesting to see if Corbyn allows a free vote on the vote on the bombing of Syria. If he doesn't and the vote support within Labour for our bombing of IS in Syria as well as Iraq is high - then it will effectively be a vote of no confidence. |

You're a hard man Lord Flyer. I'll support you but you must be in coalition with the Rt Honorable Lord Cool-Cat.

Saw this today re Tim Yeo - an MP who has many questions to answer re his influence on "Green Taxes" applied to all of us to pay for the Feed In Tariffs that make the likes of Yeo and his cronies richer by the minute.
The Sunday Times did a "Sting" on Yeo and showed him in all his money grabbing sleazy glory.......... So Yeo tried to bluff it out and took the Sunday Times to Court for Libel. He lost. "Tim Yeo's libel action against the Sunday Times has failed. You will recall that this was over the newspaper's sting operation, in which Yeo was caught on camera offering to be a paid advocate for what he thought were a group of green lobbyists. The Sunday Times has reported that Yeo's evidence was dismissed by the judge as: “implausible”, “unreliable”, “not honest”,”dishonest”, “untruthful”, “untrue” and “unworthy of belief”." OUCH! - That has to hurt....... And now the Times is reporting that Tim Yeo is being investigated for perjury, after his libel case against the Sunday Times was thrown out last week. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/law/article4625177.ece |
