Not tried the nails yet .

But popped off twice yesterday ,even after cleaning degreasing and using silicon sealant and a clip . managed 18 miles , then about 2 then 5 home.

My feeling is a the clip is too wide and when tightened it does not allow the tube to expand out on both sides of the clip and it seems to squeeze the silicone tube out off the EGR, and if not tightened enough pops off . The original MGR clip was a fair bit slimmer, but lost that somewhere

Strange as when first fitted it stayed on for many months

Now tried a thin 6mm stainless band and clamp . which seems to hold ok , topped that off with a Terry Clip over the top to make it look right.

Weird that all the other clips hold OK ?

We will see .

The hose will be meeting resistance to airflow at the EGR, so the pressure will increase ( think of it as putting a finger on the outlet of a bicycle pump).

Possibly try 2 narrow clips, one either side of the bead at the clamping area.

As I've said already, I'm not a huge fan of silicone coated fabric hoses.

It might also be worth tightening the clamp when the engine bay is warm, as the underlying synthetic fabric used does soften with temperature.

Its a standard EGR ( hollowed out to straight through) so there's only about 18 mm where a clip a can go ,and only on the inboard side of the Lip.

Will have to see how this single narrow one gets on. as it not really removable and not adjustable

Thinking the Sliicon tube is going soft maybe.?

C.

PS most of my tightening has been recently beed done hot , usually at the side of the road ..

Remember you can get wire clips, so the wires could sit either side of the bump on the EGR!

Unfortunately there's no land outside the bump , tis just a tapered end .
but a wire type would work inside most likely

Well that lasted 7 miles .. halfway to work .

The problem is with the tube, put it under any clamping force and it just tries to extrude out from under the clip.

managed to get going with use of 1 cable tie i found to hold it in place with no clip and using a gentle right foot .

Will compare with the other identical unused tube in the workshop to see if its going soft .

Seem to have cracked it??? not literally .

Swapped the pipe round so the original neat end is on the EGR and trimmed about 1/4 off the other for neatness .

And done 25 miles giving it some welly and its stayed on!!

Still wondering if its gone soft ? but neither end actually feels different ?
