There are no actual mapping files contained in the TOAF software, nor is it capable of downloading to the ECM. The VN string of data is misleading if you are not aware of how it operates in relation to the rest of the car, and altering it will not result in any changes being made. For instance if a car was to have 180 as the first three digits of the VN string, it would be seen to be a diesel 135, however with those same three digits being 008 ie 160PS, it would be seen as either a V6 ZT or an 1800T ZT, depending upon the GM data contained in the car, and not a 160PS diesel It's a nice thought though Brian |

For future reference, I tried a translucent blue "Newnow Mini OBDII Scan Advanced OBD SCAN TOOL", with the link between pin 7 & 8, with version 51 of TOAF.
This installed 2 virtual COM ports 5 & 7. Unfortunately it failed to work with a "COM CONNECT ERROR". Last edited by MarkS; 7th June 2017 at 19:15.. |

Com ports 1 to 4
Mark
as mentioned in other places TOAF will only handle Com ports 1 to 4 . you have to use Windows device manager to change the com no of your connection cable. It will probably conflict with another allocated connection but go ahead and try it. |

I have deleted all unused hidden serial ports. The Bluetooth is now COM3 & COM4. In TOAF, the only selectable COM ports are "COM" & "COM". Note there are no numbers associated with COM. Alas, still "COM Connect error" with either COM port. |

Yes I remember you had problems Wes, I've no MGR any longer to test anything to do with Toaf now but your issue is really odd. Could you be soldering the two pins in mirror image??

Hi Trev, the pins are numbered, I double checked, and checked again. I know I can be daft at times, but not that daft...

A quick glance .. it looks to me like people are trying to use elm 327 based Bluetooth adapters. These aren't what is called for. It needs to be a vag cable - the type that works with vag-com on vw's. The cheapie ones do the job fine. |

I bought the KKL VAG-COM 409.1 cable, same as the one in the link.
