Manual Seats to Electric
Hi
Have read the current info with regards to fitting electric seats in pace of manual. I to thought this was a clever thing to do. I have a 2000 1.8 classic SE, the seats i bought have the front motor as in the pictures but no visible 2nd motor, I presumed it to be in the seat back. Can anyone advise if connecting the wires is the same as this article, ie a switched live feed & earth?, not bothered about the heated seats. Also where the feed should be taken from. |

Otherwise you can take the power from the supply rail of the aux or ignition curcuit in the fusebox under the dash. Make sure you have an inline fuse if you are not using a piggyback. The supply goes direct to the seat alongside a suitable earth to the thick black on the seat. The 3 thick orange/brown with tracers are 12v demand for the elements, relay if fitted & motors. Connect nothing to the thick yellow wire with no tracer, this is the switched earth from the heated seat switch. If the drivers seat is a memory seat, you will have to power the seat BCU also. for retro wiring you can use the same single power supply for everything on the seat. It is best to get the seat plugs with enough loom to reach the centre console by the handbrake

I was pleased as punch when I found them in my tourer, my heated seat switch plugs were tucked down by the gearshaft wrapped in adhesive foam.

I fitted eletric heated memory leather setats for rover66 last month and got them to work as per OE ones following RAVE with no probs. The car was a MK1 so different fusebox to MK2.
I also found that one of the wires on the manual was locted in the wrong plug after buzing out the fuses. |
