I am changing track and revisiting coastal photos starting with a Go Pro selfie I took whilst swimming off shore 6 months after I had a bypass. The water was warm and clear....within a reef and was just perfect.

Thanks guys for liking the coastal photos..... I took them with different cameras and sometimes used a camera phone. Occasionally, some of the locals object to having their photos taken. When that happens, it’s because of 2 reasons: they want payment or a photo is stealing their spirit. At the coast in the rural communities, people still believe in and practice witchcraft. Another consideration is their culture and religion.
Several years ago, a handful of us each bought 1-2 acres of land on the beach and a beach house was built which consists of a main house with 2 cottages built around a walled courtyard with pool, a nice escape next to the beach. All the rooms have ceiling fans and the roof top lounge overlooks the creek and lagoon. It is open to the elements for the breezes and the views. The locals are friendly and welcoming. No alcohol or luxury goods is sold in the village. There are no hotels or bars, no disco and it feels as though time has stopped for a hundred or more years. Crime is almost non existent. I am told the only problem is with peeping toms. The women in the village dress modestly and traditionally. They wear a scarf or a sheet, square folded into a triangle or simply a triangle, but also can be a rectangular shape. ... Burka- a long, loose piece of clothing covering the whole body from head to feet, worn in public. There are 5 mosques in the village, the calling starts at about 04:50. It’s quite atmospheric and I don’t object to it, live and let live With alcohol, we take our own supply and drink in private. We get fresh fish from the fishermen delivered to the house as and when needed. |
