There's no harm in asking, and many sellers may well jump at the offer of a free 160 remap.

But, whether the jump will be forwards or backwards would be anybodys guess....... so best make sure you're wearing steel toecaps.

Shawn,

A simple answer, I would NEVER EVER sell YOU a car!! Not even if I was down to my last 5 pence......

I wouldn't even consider turning up with a diagnostic laptop when viewing a car it's something that's just not done

There's more than enough things you can do to check that a potential purchase is a suitable one without needing to resort to plugging it in.

Eyes, ears, a good test drive and being familiar with the car and it's basic operation are far more useful than a laptop.

Personally I would say "no" unless you knew what you were doing. More because of a risk of you misunderstanding the results (e.g. BMWScanner will throw up loads of errors - because it's not really a BMW), than damaging the car.
That was last week I'm talking "Dealership level diagnostics" this week

But to everyone else that's your view on the matter????

Forget its me asking the question but someone you've never heard of!
Surely this is just progress using the tools at our disposal?

You would not go with a blindfold on and earplugs in

Last time I looked this person was showing as Banned. Obviously it was a temporary ban, and here he is again causing animosity knowing full well he is stirring up a hornets nest.

My subscription is up for renewal next month, I will not be subscribing while he is still around.

I explore the avenues I'm interested in. This week I'm building a diagnostic laptop.
