I have to agree with Herman about the tax.
However, many people baulk about the £500 cost of getting the belts done on a V6 every 6 years / 90,000 miles. Every V6 for sale seems to be confronted with this "obstacle" of why not to buy it. The difference on road tax, for this V8, of the £500 compared to £285 is about 4 quid a week!

Road tax at £500 for a car like the V8 is peanuts.
In the Netherlands you'd be looking at €1000-up and in Ireland even more Why do people always complain about tax? Oh, I know......................., it's an excuse not to buy a car they can't afford to start with.............. Rant over....... |

Just buy it and enjoy it, your only here once! The issue that get me with the tax system is that a late V8 costs more than an early one to tax, no logic at all in the way the system was set up.

I enjoy my one :-) but as you say no logic in the system but if the right car comes along and you want it it shouldn't be a stumbling block

Another V8 on the market
And I think I read somewhere, if you export the car, and then re-import it later, it will miraculously revert to the lower figure.
Not that there's a massive difference anyway, and if you can't afford the tax, perhaps the simple fact is you just can't afford to run one. |

The tax is largely irrelevant, as most v8 owners would take them off the road in winter.
Also, if £500 a year is a problem for tax, the 260 is the wrong car for you, and may go some way to explain why so many are totally neglected now, and are in such pi$$ poor condition. |
