The barrel boot lock is quite fragile and it activates quite easily. Ham fisted strong and unrequired brutal strength it does not need. To replicate the corkscrew opening of a vintage bubbly it needs not. Go easy guys and it will last. What tends to happen is that the key is used to lift the boot whilst still engaged ... its just a habit ....

I agree you only need a slight quarter turn to unlock the boot.
