Now that sounds a very good idea

You can only drive to the testing station for an MOT test that's been booked in advance, and back home if it fails but is not deemed to be unsafe.
The MOT tester can impound your vehicle if he deems it unsafe and you must get the work carried out there or get it trailered away.

Hi.
That is perfectly true but the OP's question was about parking a vehicle with no MOT. I'm just off the phone to the DVLA about another matter but while speaking to them I asked as an aside about MOT, parking and insurance.
I was told that its an offence to drive without an MOT unless driving to and from a pre booked MOT, we know that though! It is not an offence to park a vehicle on the road with no MOT as it not being driven, it must be taxed and insured, the insurance company cannot cancel or suspend the insurance on a vehicle with no MOT.

The girl I spoke to was Stephanie at the DVLA (she gave me an op number but I'll not put that on open forum)

This is what I have been reading on various websites.

So basically its perfectly legal for him to leave it there rotting until the tax runs out

it could be that the tax on the vehicle itself is void, as it probably belongs to previous owner

I will check again at the end of the month. The Tax should be cancelled every time the V5 arrives back at the DVLA for a change of ownership.
That's if they bothered with the V5!
