Hehe... these prices seems to be found in heaven compared to what I am used to

Everything is expensive her in Norway. I for a quote at my local LR garage for a HG change inkl. skim, Waterpump + new belts a while back. Price: 25000Nok`s (approx £2500).

I am not kidding, but the price is in the upper range for what I would expect in my area

So make sure that you don`t suffer a break down when going abroad

Mine does that in line with No.4 cylinder. Has used 1 litre for every 1000 miles for the last 20,000 miles. It's starting to use a bit more now I think so I'm starting to worry. Although, it's been so well behaved lately (touch wood) that the undertray hasn't been removed for months. I think it's full of coolant now so I'm noticing the drips more!

I've just acquired a 2005.zt turbo with hgf which i'm going to fix myself, and after rebuilding the engine, the cost of repair + the purchase of the car will most likely cost less than your quote 😁

Perhaps that was a quote for attaching an engine to a cylinder head?

I've had a few quotes now ranging from 450 to just over 600 Inc VAT. One place point blank refused to touch it. Slightly. More what I was expecting

Dave I had the HGF fixed with upgraded gasket, new head bolts, new timing kit, new cam seals, new water pump, head tested for £315 over 2 years ago and it is still going strong with the new owner.

So you get what you pay for with a good mechanic or you get the same for over double the normal cost.
