Both showing the same symptoms, bluing of the bearing face and release bearing, showing excessive heat (and subsequent melting of the plastic carrier).

Without justification indeed...

Make up your own mind folks, but I'm offered B&B and LuK at similar wholesale rates, and choose B&B all day long. Just not something I'd like to risk.
I'm not doubting your experience, but there is an alternative explanation which I would have said was equally likely - the items not fitted properly by an expert on the car and specifically clutch replacement. There is a large community of R75 drivers who have had Luk clutches fitted over the years with no issues. The post above by our own clutch master states his experience. About 2 year's ago we had a post from Jules which stated that garages in his area only fitted Luk in order minimise warranty issues.

If it was my car that had consumed two slaves, I would have the clutch checked/fitted by an expert professional.

Taken from the 'Rosie' progress thread last year before I bought the car. There's no denying the slave bearing is whirring, so what's gone wrong?
Personally, I would have it stripped as suggested above and inspected.

I wasn't aware that there was such a slave available.

Depending how trustworthy the seller / garage was ,just because you have receipts doesn't mean they did actually have the work done

Time to add my experiences, I had the original slave collapse on me 3 years ago,put it into a garage, who I'm convinced did something that has caused trouble with the car. New slave master and clutch assembly and DMF later, and nearly 900 quid lighter, after about 4/5 months, the bearing started whining. I bought a Freelander slave from Island 4x4, took it to a garage recommended by a member, when I collected the car,he showed me the old slave, it had disintegrated, this was an LUK part. I could have claimed on the warranty, but I would have had to use the original garage, and I refused to let them touch the car again.(long story) I had a long phone call with Andy Willi about it and he assured me what I had been told was rubbish. In 2012, the clutch started slipping,so I bought the Freelander B and B kit and took it back to the garage that replaced the slave the previous year. The reason for clutch slip was input shaft oil seal failure. Last September, I had the master and slave replaced again with LUK parts,so will see how long they last this time.

Another couple of LuK failures documented here, but I bet in the future I'm still called out for 'badmouthing' them. Bookmarked this thread for when the time comes.

Not doubting Andy's experience at all, but even the clutch god must concede there's a good few failures of the LuK in here.

Are you sure it's a metal slave and not just one with metal pipes?

FYI - the original AP slave fitted to the 75 came with plastic pipes. But the Luk slave for the 75 has metal pipes the same as the LR version of the slave. I have a new one here so this is first-hand information.

So, physically, what is the difference between the TD4 and R75 slaves, other than the shape of the pipes, that makes the former a better choice?

I think you should re-read RPWC's post before presenting it as supporting your position.

A few reports of failure (possibly due to incorrect fitting) in thousands fitted is not statistically significant to justify badmouthing (your words) a part and upholding <100 fitted as a relative success.

I personally rate B&B parts, but do question the presentation of "facts" in relation to Luk slaves in some threads.

Well, interesting comments indeed. Down to individual choice then, as it usually is. For me personally, if a particular part fails prematurely, I won't buy the same brand again, I'll try something else.
