Nope on the side of the box it says hoses 1.2m and 2m the other pipe is clearly longer and rather worringly I've just measured it and its smack on 2m.

Kevin.
You say the dip stick will still insert fully if any tube remained in the dipstick channel you would not get the dip stick back in, but if you are still worried as above remove the dip stick channel pipe from the car, one bolt and it will pull out of the sump, have the car on ramps or axle stands at the time.

Well, the dipstick goes all the way in easily now so there is no longer any hose stuck in the dipstick tube. If there was any hose torn off it will now be in the crankcase floating on top of the oil. Odds are it will stay there as even when the full compliment of oil is in the crankcase with the engine off, the crankshaft should not splash into the oil. When the engine is running the level in the crankcase is much lower than with the engine off, so in either case it would be extremely unlikely the hose would ever get snagged by the crankshaft. Does anyone know if a windage tray is fitted to these engines? If so, any piece of hose can sit in the crankcase 'til the cows come home without doing any harm. Taking the lower sump off to be positive is a good easy idea (mss).

Cheers,
Glenn

To be honest I'm so sick that theres no way I'm attempting taking a dip stick tube off however easy it sounds.

I'm thinking my only course of action is to fill the engine back up with oil in the morning and take it down my local garage and ask them to take off the sump and have a look assuming nothing chews up in the engine on the way down there.

I still can't understand the cut end that I have on the piece I retrieved after the hose came free with a yank. I'm convinced that it could only be my original stanley knife cut, I've even recut off the end inch or two with my stanley knife to compare the cut made with what was on the retrieved end and they are identical ( slightly different angles of course to reflect them just being done off the cuff)

Theres just no way a stretched hose parting under any force could part in a clean cut sharp 45/60 degrees manner surely?

I think that I'll going have to risk firing the car up and taking it down the garage for them to whip the sump off.

Find something that's a tad smaller than the diameter of the dipstick tube, pass it down there gently and see if there is a restriction.

By some miracle I have just managed to retrieve mine from a very cluttered garage.

My number matches bar the C1 on the end. Mine reads Ultimate Speed Oil Pump 12V UOP 12 B1. I have never had it out of the box but I will remove it and check what is what in a little while, our garage is freezing and I need a cup of coffee to warm up in preparation for .... trying to find my tape measure.
