Hi James
My opinion is stick to the original colour as it looks quite odd plus will it not atract the heat when shines most of us are trying to get the black maks off but good luck in what ever your choice maybe.

I was talking to Stubie and he advised to rub the leather down with wet & dry before painting but i reckon if you put the first coat on let it dry and then rub it down you will get a smoother finish . Ive just competed the cleaning process and will start with the dye tomorrow |

There is great stuff from a German company who also have an English site see http://www.lederzentrum.de/tip/english/carleathers.html they have also some vidoe's with how to's. All their products are water based, so very easy to use on a DIY job
I use this stuff for a couple of years now, and I like it very much. Here is a topic with my story about steering wheel paint repair. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...light=steering Perhaps this helps also. Do'nt forget before painting you have to degrease the leather with sigaret lighter fuel, what ColourLock also can provide, but you can buy this also in your local store. Rob.

I did mine a few days ago. 6 coats over 3 days and finished with some Gliptone conditioner. Added a very small amount of mustard yellow to it so that it blended right in. Alas now the airbag looks like it needs sprucing up. And the walnut looks it could do with darkening as the sun has bleached it
But it's brilliant stuff these dyes. Regards. Steve

had discoloured. If you use T-cut on the lacquer it takes out all the scratches and brings it back to its former glory. Im not bulling you... I have used it on my own walnut wheel and it looks brand new....Please dont ask for a pic because i havent a clue The lacquer on the wheel is quite thick so it would take more then T-cut to take it down to the wood Last edited by nick nick; 23rd June 2011 at 21:17.. |

Just my lack of knowledge shining more than me wheel It's a good tip though to get scratches out. My wheel looks like oak on top where the suns always on it. I think I read about having them re polished but at what expense Cheers Nick Nick. Regards. Steve.
