I would guess that's Portsmouth with HMS Warrior behind the Spinnaker Tower. You can just about make out HMS Victory but I give up on the carrier.

In the correct order
H.M.S. Illustrious....p.s. if you get the chance, visit Warrior...great ship. The other one is known locally as "The Ship on the Fen"

I think the 'ship of the fen' is Ely Cathedral, a fantastic building and Warrior is a beautifully restored vessel too. If you go on the Victory tour the guide (clearly a retired CPO - Pertwee) asks if there are any French amongst us as he hands out the booklets. He goes on t say that the English booklet explains how we won at Trafalgar and the French one explains how they lost.
We were amazed how many French schoolchildren there were about the place until some wag pointed out that they have to come to Britain to see old ships because we sank all theirs. I have a picture of the Spinaker taken from near HMS Warrior at http://www.flickr.com/photos/norwichhouse-oakridge/. Malcolm |
