Well at this price it seems churlish not to try it out

Besides, the silver ZT needs the compensator doing anyway, just as well it didn't roll away down the street recently.....

What did I do today? - Jet washed the underside of my low milage Connie SE, I think the previous owner worked on a building site - the engine undertray was missing, though I do have a genuine new one.

However, there was a problem, though not with the car. Tried to use hot water, but insufficient pressure to drive the pressure washer, so added a bit of cold (a single connection to a swan-neck sink tap.)
Unbeknown to me the cold under mains pressure forced its way back up the hot supply, displaced the hot water in the cylinder and filled the supply tank, a relatively new one on which I had not yet connected the overflow. Result, water down through the house, so wife not amused . Not the first time, it's happened before when the old tank rotted through.

Tomorrow's jobs - get car off ramps and start to strip it for new front spring, and connect overflow.

As you know Gary, been there done that you can buy them on average for £20 a lot more work involved in fitting them as cable as to be fitted also but doe's do away with welding or modifying with Stainless Steel, I took a few pictures when I fitted the first one last Friday at the nano.

Did not go well as the cable got stuck and it took me 90 minutes to fit compared to 15-20 minutes with the SSC and in my opinion is a two man job you can do it on your own but it is a struggle.

I have posted how to on the community, but as I did not take a full view from start to finish it is only partial I have said on there that I would not fit another one, but as the saying goe's never say never, maybe under better circumstances with less on my mind as I was trying to get organised for the nano meet when it was fitted.

But it certainly works and from what I saw they are strong and will not stretch I go as far as saying these should have been fitted to the R75 by Rover from the start.

I have referred to them in my posts on other side as (R53) I have a local member coming over the weekend for his handbrake to be checked and fitted or adjusted I may do a full how to if so I will post as always in detail cheers Arctic.

Went to pick up some plants, dirt track to where I needed to be, car was scraping bottom in the ruts so I kept to left as best I could.
Along the track there were hedgrow with what looked like soft leaf patches overhanging onto the lane.
Went back out to car later and did`nt I see a scratch almost the full length of near side, at first I thought it had been keyed, it does not seem to be down to metal but going to need some work Duh!
and the plants were rubbish, wish I had not bothered.
Ken.

[After reading all of the information available I was searching for H/B cables and Google popped up with that one and I thought worth a go. Arctic has tried it as well but it got it stuck trying to get it out. I used a Phillips screwdriver to pop the threaded adjuster through the locating hole, gave it a light tap and it popped out, at the same time pushing on the cable not pulling it. Tricky bit is the tag holding the cable in the mech', has to be bent out then bent back.

More fiddly but a third way.

Default Treats and essentials

The 75 also celebrated it's 14th birthday on 20th so as a treat last week had the roof and boot lid professionally resprayed in Hereford (AutoChips and Dent Care Ltd, thanks Ron/David) – I can recommend.
Yesterday had front brakes replaced by GAVIN at Leamington, with MOT looming in August, good to have done now. Gavin also explained what was causing the ABS cutting in sometimes when braking but will have wait until later before that's done.
Today found the exhaust back box nearly on the floor! When that happened I don't know on the 80 mile journey home but glad it didn't drop all the way on the M5... but had to get it fixed quick. Fortunately there is Alfa-Tech at Ledbury who put on new support rubbers etc to replace the split/perished ones. Thanks Darren.
Hopefully that will be it for now as the piggy banks' empty!

Well last night anyway but......

Finally got the Rover onto the openish road. Took a drive over to Turnford to see my MG ZTT owning mate. The digital temp showed between 97 to 101 degrees in varying road conditions, AC (which is nice and cold) on and off and spirited driving when able to do so. Cruise control works happily too.

I showed a clean pair of heels to a large bike and a newish BMW away from some lights too, they were blipping at the lights so I thought I would play. Utterly left 'em for dead and that was in economy mode. Sports mode would have been even more fun. I iz child.

Such a smooth delivery and had plenty of oomphh. Lovely

Finally got rear brakes all sorted, bought the escort mk 4 springs and pins used both cups one on each end thus reducing the chances of the pin pulling through the rusty back plate on rears.

Replaced the rear discs at same time.

Then just to enjoy the sun decided to change the seats to electric leather instead of the old manual cloth ones..

Also obtained a pair of chrome mirrors ( sadly not power fold )

Also gained the full interior to fit as and when I feel up to it..( had to strip that and seats out first )

So a busy day today...

Now going for a long soak then a nice cold drink before picking wife up from work....

Fitted a smiley plate from member 'hardridden' today (got to love his service, ordered Sunday evening, arrived Tuesday!). Also put a speculative offer on a full leather interior on eBay today and it got accepted. I had a £25 voucher from eBay which I was intending to put towards a dash cam, but with the voucher and my cheeky offer, I got the interior for a bargain £50. As soon as that comes, that will be next.

Over the weekend I also fitted a rear sunblind (supplied by Cossie Dunc)after spraying it black (it was sandstone & I have a smoke stone interior).

This forum is great for how to guides, without it I probably wouldn't have bothered. Best tenner I've spent in years.
