There's no chance of a complete and proper split to a totally independent country. Salmond knows he wouldn't win if it was a straight forward yes or no for complete independence right now. The question asked will be a fudge to try to get more control of certain things while still being able to have a go at Westminster about others so he can keep stirring up ill-informed hatred - while you're all hating us the heats off your very own Wallace wannabe.

I think you will find that any hatred towards the English has been born out of the way England has treated Scotland for 100's of year's.
