Just to revive this post, the missus & I have visited Malta almost every year sometimes twice a year for the last 20 odd years and we have made many friends, sadly some have now departed. Malta is like a second home for us with the friendship we have, in fact one of our friends is coming over to stay with us in a few weeks time.
On the Rover side being an SD1 man I was always on the lookout for them and yes I've seen one or two but then for several years none. Thinking they were all gone last September I saw two on the same day. There are still a lot of R8 convertibles some very tidy and yes the 75 and there are a few including ROV 075. We are due out again this September for our annual stay at The Kennedy with our second week with friends so naturally I will be on the lookout for them with my camera by the ready. JYJ |

Just back from our annual visit and what a change in just one year.
Gone are the old Malta buses with Arriva now in charge and horror on horrror a lot of them are bendy buses. These are totally useless for Malta IMO as they cause nothing but jams are up to 4 at a time trudge along the street. Even the regular sized buses struggle with such small spaces for bus stops. Another change I see is the increase in Smart cars and also the high end stuff. I saw three different Bentleys, several newish XK Jaguars and the like. There has also been a huge influx of UK registered cars, some up for sale in local garages. Here are some of the 75's I spotted along with Zed our club mascot. And this lovely Bentley GT with unique number plate I missed ROV 075 this year but spotted TFI 124, a silver one plus one other burgundy one but that one tourer, again with a rather unique plate. I'm back for another trip to get away from the gales back home.
It's nice to be able to dine Al Fresco in December. I missed out on Sunday preferinng to have Sunday lunch at Golden Bay with our friends rather than look at some exotic cars at a charity event at the airport. It turned out that over 900 cars including many classics attended, well there's always next year. BTW I spotted a ZT yesterday but didn't have time to snap it with the camera. Pity Zed was not with me this time as he's off on another European trip. JYJ |

Getting ready for the trip home tomorrow, back to the wind & rain. Feels odd walking around in a T shirt in December.

Well I'm back in my second home for another re-charge of the batteries !
Did a spot of sailing yesterday evening courtesy of my Maltese friend, but when the wind dropped we had to motor back into Birgu. JYJ |

Happy Days (and Nights).
Hi, We went to live in Gozo (Malta), in 1986, (retired early), stayed Spring 2005, got involved with all sorts of activities Catenians, SPCA, Friends of The Sick and Elderley, and ESCC. Sailed around Gozo, Comino, Malta, and across to Sicily. Belonged the Maltese old car club. Still had the old buses when we left in 2005, (story goes they were not insured). Moved house three times during our stay, Xhagra, Rabbat and ended up in Qala overlooking Mgarr Harbour. Happy Happy Happy days. Rosebud (Old Lady). Take good care of each other. |
