Just checked the prices for ferry from Newcastle to Ijmuiden, I may have to drive to Dover and make the drive up the coast if I'm to be persuaded to visit

Okay, lets make this a bit more informative:

If we (the Dutchies) want to visit the UK for some digital magic (T4), we need to take the ferry to the UK.
The cheapest I could find was: http://www.dfdsseaways.nl/b/
Date: 13 september (Saturday) with a return on the same day.
Duinkerken -> Dover = between 29 and 55 euro (it's cheaper early in the morning)
The return (Dover -> Duinkerken) is pretty much the same price.
So, if you jump on the ferry at 6am in Duinkerken and go back at 6pm, it would cost you: 29+33= € 62,-.
p.s. I choose Duinkerken because it's cheaper then going to Newcastle.

Distance from Tilburg to Duinkerken is 243km (you can try to calculate the petrol usage).
For me, getting my car at the pier in Dover and back home again (not included any KM in England) I would drive about 490km, which is roughly € 69,-.

69 for petrol + 62 for the ferry = € 131,- total.
(excluding km in England and/or the cost of the T4 session)

If 3 or 4 people from NL want to go to England for a little bit of T4 magic, we would all have to make these expenses.

But what if we could turn it around. Ask Brian to come to us?
From Newcastle to Ijmuiden is ridiculous expensive (my quote came up to 508 euro! for the cheapest options, no food, no drinks)
Brian will have to travel about 350 miles (560km) from Newcastle to Dover. Not sure on his mileage but I assume it'll be something like 1 liter = 10km (1:10 in Dutch). Which would be about 56 liters. With average EU prices it'll cost about € 95.20. He'll also have to drive back up, so that's another 95.20.
If he would take the ferry on 6am and go back on it on 6pm, it would cost 37+37= € 74,-.
From Duinkerken to the edge of NL (I'm taking Tilburg again for example) is 243km, which would than cost about € 41.31. He'll also have to drive back, so that's another 41.31.

Petrol UK: 95.20*2
Ferry: 74
Petrol EU: 41.31*2
Total= € 347.02.

Not including food, drinks, and any other KM's except the route mentioned above.
If we would have 4 people that want to join in on this, we could split the costs to make it more interesting for Brian (can't really expect him to pay for everything...).
347.02 / 4 = € 86.75 per person. (Not including the price of the T4 session).

In short.
Going to Dover: € 131,- + price of T4.
Letting Brian come over: € 86.75 + price of T4 (IF we have 4 people joining in on this).

If we could get even more people to join in on this and split the cost, it would obviously become cheaper for everybody.

(since it would be mental to expect Brian to leave his home at 12 at night, jump on the ferry, drive 2 hours to Tilburg, do a full T4 session with everybody AND drive 2 hours back to Duinkerken and drive 6 hours back to his house.... I think we should look at sleeping arrangements for him. Otherwise he would leave his house at 12 at night and return at 12 at night. With at most a few hours of sleep on the ferry...)

Hoi naamgenoot.
Is dat een "Hoi, ik ben een T4 guru"? Of een "Hoi, ik kom ook uit Nederland"?
