I have not been using my W7 upgraded to W10 laptop as much as I usually do - I normally use it in the caravan when away, or occasionally in bed, when I have some work to complete. So last night I made a point of turning it on, to check what updates were due...

There was a fairly quick one, which installed during a double reboot after which everything worked fine. No problems to report at all.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I gather that the smaller updates need to be on before the major upgrade.
If the ones you did only took a short time I don`t think you got it Harry.
Go into all setting then updates and press check for updates manually.
Ken.

I think most people have had to do it manually, I have an old Win 7 which wouldn't update to win 10, I'll leave that alone as there's software on there that wont run on Win 10, so I've been told. It'll do for garage o use the endoscpoe camera I bought recently as that doesn't run on Win 10.
The oldish one I'm using now for my media pc with Win 10 will do for the time being but I'll wait to pick up a used PC after Christmas, there will be plenty on ebay in the new year. I'll put my preferred Ubuntu OS on it when I get one.

That is what I did - I checked a couple of times after the update and it said all updates had been applied.

When you right click on the Windows icon bottom far left, is the background black or still white?

The icon is white, the background is black, like the rest of that line of the screen?

Seems you got the update Harry because that`s how mine change too after the upgrade.
One other thing I noticed had gone was all previous updates in the:
All Settings...Update & Security...Advanced options...View your update History.
That makes sense (if you have kept it updated) because it`s a whole O/S and no updates for that have been sent down for it yet. I have just looked and it does have a flash update there now, but that was not there right after installing the new Win 10.
Ken.

Settings/System/About will give version 1511 (or not as the case may be)

Or at least my up to date version gives that number and I presume earlier versions were a different number.

I think I've got to the bottom of the PC keep reverting to the US ENG keyboard. Seems like a few things have gone back to factory settings since the upgrade. I went into settings/languages & made UK ENG the default again.
