I had a Mk2 Granada I loved, but the ultimate for me would be my first car, a 1982 Vauxhall Cavalier GLS with an auto box. There are only three of the model left in existence now.
I bought it back in May 1990 and my late father taught me to drive in it. The pics are as the old boy stands today, 26 years later. Suffice to say it doesn't come out very much anymore! |

For me it was a Ford Capri 2.0 Laser in Laquar Red, 1985 on a B reg.
I owned it between October 1987 and May 1991, looking at Ford prices now i wished i'd kept it.

For me it was a 1975 Opel Manta 1.9 Berlinetta I had at 24yrs of age in 1989.
I redesigned the front end with the back of a pick-up truck and i scrapped it. They are so rare and sought after it would now be repaired without a second thought. Wish even front ended I'd put it in a barn and forgot about it for 25yrs. |

The one that has given me most satisfaction is probably my Z3.
Ultra reliable, great to drive, fairly quick and sounds great with the top down. Still got it too. ......and that's 1000 posts for me too!

my dad and his friend had a business for 30 years and his friend bought his mk1 interceptor in 1973 (trading in his 3.8 E-TYPE JAG for £600 against the 2k he paid for the Jensen). the Jensen remained on the garage premises until they retired in 2005. I sat in it when my dad dragged me along to work during school holidays and weekends. he offered it to me and my dad for £1200 as a project as it needed 2 new sills and a new wing which had rotted through as well as new carpets. Jensen parts and service wanted £600 for each item and they were only going for £6000 for a good example back then. how I regret not buying it as they are worth 30k upwards now for a good one. I can still smell the Connelly leather just thinking about it

Miss my old Audi Coupe. Never got tired of driving that and the 5 cylinder engine noise was special.

Almost impossible for me to choose, but it's between these two:
My 2000, bought as my first car, and still have it, although it's off the road. Had so much fun with it over the years, and despite it being incomprehensibly unreliable initially, I carried on, and derived a great deal of pleasure from driving it, usually quite briskly. It's far from original, in a peculiar shade of yellow, with a 2.2 fitted, and a few other strange things, but I love it. The 3500. I'd always wanted an April Yellow Series 1 3500, and they're not exactly common, so when I was offered this one, despite it needing a fair bit of work, I absolutely had to have it. I've been using it constantly since purchase, and I'm continuing to work through the huge list of jobs. I hope never to sell it.

I've had many cars over the past 28 years being in the motor trade and have kept some of longer than others. There are a few cars that stick in mind as being great, my Rover 75 of course is one, and also an MG Maestro 2.0 EFi, Peugeot 205 and a 309 GTi, Renault 5 GT Turbo, Sierra XR4x4, Jaguar XJ40, Focus RS Mk1, Focus ST and a Focus RS Mk2, all superb cars and I've probably missed some. But the best one of all, the one that I regret selling to the point when the new owner drove it away I realized I'd made a mistake, is:
My 1988 Audi Quattro Coupe. I owned it in 1996, it was last Taxed and MOT in April 2007. |
