Those old sixes are a strong lump & I would have thought 70 would be stress free for them, it's not just that you can hear the engine more than a modern car is it?? & that makes you think it's screaming a bit When I had the wagon it would cruise nicely at 50-55 but my god it was noisy especially with the engine right next to your left leg with only a thin steel cover over it |

They did Series 1 V8s from 68 onwards but only in automatic then when the Series 2 came out aswell as the 3500 (auto) they introduced the 3500S which was a manual version with the "sporty" wheeltrims like wot mine's got If you read any Rover books you will find mention of a Series 1 3500S but it is NADA (American) spec & automatic, I'll lend you my books some day

Mot booked for 10.00 this morning. Went to start the P4, started instantly, then conked out 5 seconds later. Went to start it and it sounded very bad cranking over. I got the handle out and found the engine locked solid!
Pulled out the plugs and cranked over by hand and petrol gushed out of number 5 and 6. 5 was totally brimmed!! Looks like I need a carb repair kit! Never made the MOT. I hope the conrods are ok!
