My P4 will apparantly do 100mph happily I am told that Rover IOE engines were designed with their optimum cruising speed to be flat out?! Dunno how true that is.. MOT on Saturday for the old lady.
I know where there's a rough black one
Those old sixes are a strong lump & I would have thought 70 would be stress free for them, it's not just that you can hear the engine more than a modern car is it?? & that makes you think it's screaming a bit
When I had the wagon it would cruise nicely at 50-55 but my god it was noisy especially with the engine right next to your left leg with only a thin steel cover over it

Could be Colin, did they do a P6 MK1 V8? I would love an Avacado P6 but there is a nice 2000 Mk1 in white on ebay with a years MOT, was on £200 yesterday!

Yeah, quite easy to get extra cars but very difficult to keep them Got 8 now and will have to get rid of 2 as I haven´t really got the space. 4 vans aswell

They did Series 1 V8s from 68 onwards but only in automatic then when the Series 2 came out aswell as the 3500 (auto) they introduced the 3500S which was a manual version with the "sporty" wheeltrims like wot mine's got If you read any Rover books you will find mention of a Series 1 3500S but it is NADA (American) spec & automatic, I'll lend you my books some day

Oh Avacado was only available on the very last year of production as it was actually an SD1 colour but they used the P6 as a guinea pig for the new paint plant, the range was
Avacado
Turmeric
Atlantis
Richlieu
Brazilia
Platinum (only metallic ever available on P6)
Pendelican (white)

I'll get me anorak

Mot booked for 10.00 this morning. Went to start the P4, started instantly, then conked out 5 seconds later. Went to start it and it sounded very bad cranking over. I got the handle out and found the engine locked solid!
Pulled out the plugs and cranked over by hand and petrol gushed out of number 5 and 6. 5 was totally brimmed!! Looks like I need a carb repair kit! Never made the MOT. I hope the conrods are ok!
