but the two garages that each added 2L of oil are very well established and would be laughing if a car club suggested they can't read a dip stick.
The one time I had a garage do an oil change on my ZTT 2.5 V6 they added to much oil, almost two litres to much!!

You must follow the dip-stick procedure on the KV6 most mechanics will dip and look and add oil and add oil and add oil............

Do this on Level ground with a cold engine.
Remove dipstick & wipe, replace it but leave about half an inch up, wait 30 seconds then push fully down and check.

imho your oil level is nothing to do with your non-starting.

Good Luck Let us know how you get on.

They didn't use the words rich or lean.

They have said:

1. No emissions problem (so I think that means its not rich).
2. Flat performance (so I think that means lean).

I also noticed its slowing down when I would expect it to be staying constant, and the VIS hasn't been felt for a couple of months now --- also, the clutch was replaced earlier this year, so I think we can rule that out.

Could the flat performance and lack of VIS-feeling be explained by a dodgy oxygen sensor?

uni part and peckham spares ,mind you that was trade, i have not had to do anything on my car ,the sensor was for a members car on here .... i wouldnt use eurocarparts for anything myself ,based on the service and wrong parts being delevered when i was training at a garage .... phone them at 9-30 and its not with you till 3/4 pm just not good enough inmy book ... plus they say a part is the right one but is not .... like a airflow meter on a beemer at first thought it might be a dodgy one so returned it andgot another only for it to be the same .got one from another factor the car was perfect then ...

Paid £100 for the parts. I hope it all works out and I'll update everyone when I get the car back later this week

Just a note: Opposite UniPart is South London Clutch & Gear Box Centre. They wanted £1000 to change my clutch, and Creek Side Auto Repairs (Greenwich) charged me a little over £500 for the same work.
