Default Update starting problems Rover 75 V6

Hi,
A very strange thing happened today. I have had severe starting problems with my V6 Rover. Usually worked when cold, but it would not start when the engine was warm. I thought I had everything checked, i.e. I had:

- changed the cam sensor to a brand new one (MG/Rover original part)
- checked the filter assembly (it was unnecessary since it is a "vintage filter")
- cleaned out the throttle housing with carburetor spray
- cleaned the MAP sensor
- cleaned and checked that the idle air intake motor is moving when the ignition is switched on

Not getting any better, I had to give up.

So today I had the car connected to the T4 computer at a local garage (English Car Care in Loddekoping, Sweden. By the way a great place). The T4 detected no signal from the cam sensor. A new one was installed and the car works so far.

I wonder if I am the only one or if any of you guys have had any such experience with faulty brand new parts. Is there any way to check the cam sensor on the work bench?

/JPeter

I must admit, when I fitted a new cam sensor in mine, I noticed quite a difference between to sensor made in 2000 compared to the new one, (being a later MGR OEM part).

The old one had a nice weight to it and had a quality feel, where the new looked and felt cheap and nasty.

It is doing the job though, at the moment.

Made in Egypt!
Renowned for their quality cotton, but not sure about camshaft sensors.

I guess a brand is not stronger than the company's quality control department...
