Default Useful Service & Parts contacts for the Birmingham area

Hello all!

I've made some excellent contacts over the last few weeks for maintaining MG Rover and thought they could help others too:-

Firstly, for any general maintenance (non-rover specialist)
KDM Autos in Selly Oak on 0121 472 7192
are excellent. Kevin owns & runs and is known to me for decades; he also restores classics (esp ferraris), resprays any vehicle and maintains formula ford / milli miglia race cars.

I never encountered but wish I had known -
Summit Garage Dudley on 01384 468413
because they know MGR intimately - they can glance at a problem and go "oh yeah, it's that...cost you this, take that long" and be absolutely right. They are friendly, expert and good value.

Colliers 0121 382 1010 are the XPart stockist for Birmingham. They have everything. No seriously, everything. On a shelf, as you go in. Literally behind them is the truly fantastic Abbey Service Centre (0121 377 2580) run by the from-a-different-and-better-time Herbie. Their labour rate is superb, they are exhaustively knowledgable, polite, honest, do work on time and have a wall covered in thank-you cards - especially from female customers (I think they like Herb tbh ). Visiting them is like eating whole food, like a breath of fresh air....like having all the stress taken away. They're also only five mins walk from Erdington railway station (as then are Colliers) which is only 12 mins from Bhm New Street.

I hope they might help people as much as they have helped me. If you do contact any of them please mention a forum member recommended you - there's no reason for that other than wanting to spread the word.

Good luck!

Can certainly recommend Summit. Friendly family run business been there for over 60 years. Last 2 things I have bought off them have been cheaper than Ebay and definitely genuine (unlike some tat on there). Best of all, only 1 mile from me!!
