I had to replace one of these so called modification air ducts today on a car owned by a local chap, photo's below. If you are an owner with a car with the bellows cut away from the air intake duct then get it replaced asap, if not damage to the MAF will be inevitable.

Pointless waste of money on a family saloon, and if oiled, kiss goodbye to your MAF sensor, use a quality standard filter, if in dusty area change twice as often.

My sentiments entirely
K&N designed for short use race tracking not for 15k miles or similar long service intervals.

Default Air intake 'invisible mod'

Myth no 2
Cutting the intake off at bellows increases air volume into engine.
Wrong !
It introduces warm air (less dense) now fed from behind the radiator/condenser!
Why make the intercooler work harder

So folks don't do it!!
Instead do the "invisible mod"
ie cut some V shapes on the underside of the intake at the front edge.
Thus reducing the air restriction without increasing the air temp.
Hi Phil, useful to know about the invisible mod. Do you have any photos so we can see exactly where to cut the V shapes? TIA.
