What you'll get from the two main dealers in Settle is an evacuation, vacuum test (which is not totally reliable for finding leaks) and re-charge performed automatically by machine. They won't have the equipment or expertise for the pressure test which macafee2 mentioned.

Just a reminder that air conditioning needs to be run periodically, for example once a month, all the year round if loss of refrigerant is to be avoided. Rainy days are a good opportunity when its dehumidifying effect will keep your windows clear.

Duly noted. I'll get it sorted as soon as i have replaced the drivebelt (might as well while so much is removed from this area). Cheers, Phil.

Just in case anyone has a similar problem and has worked their way through this thread here's an update: finally found a mobile aircon guy in Chorley who did me a regas for a very reasonable amount and now the system is working great. I'll be keeping an eye on it for leaks with a uv light but so far so good. The guy was James Randolph, very nice chap.

Thanks for this Phil. It's always nice to hear when our advice has been followed and it's worked out.

Here's your guy's website which I'm sure will be useful to other members in or near Lancashire:

James Randolph Motors, Chorley
