Do you know if there is still a Christmas market at Rheindahlen?
Yes, they do have a Christmas market this year on 5th and 6th of December. It's called Nikolausmarkt. But I've never been there, so I don't know whether it's worth a visit.

The ö is pronounced like the eu in the french word fleur.

BTW do you want to buy some little dots for all the ö's and ü's ...

(Great city, good market from memory, go there! Alternatively Brugge aka Bruges is, IIRC, accessible by Eurostar?)

There's a Weihnachtsmarkt at Cologne of course. But you'll will have to expect lots of people.

Dave, I don't like going to such big markets, too much hassle. Smaller is more beautiful, isn't it?

Absolutely! The one in Lincoln is in the Castle grounds, and they literally bus in hundreds of people from all over the place. You get into a stream of people going in one gate, hardly able to lift your arms from your sides, and get pushed round a one-way-system, until you pop out the other side. If you need to go back to a stall, you have to start over!

Think I'll stick to our local one in town!

Hi Les

We went to one in Brussels a few years ago at the Grand,Place it was big with approx 250 stalls, ice ring, big-wheel, Lights, Etc

It was one of the biggest i had seen,We went by euro star at the time has they had a deal £99.00 inc for hotel for 3 nights,But i think you can get cheap flights on the budget airlines to Brussels,

I would recommend this one and have put a link below to the official website of the city of Brussels

I hope so, my flights are booked for a week on Monday and I don't want to just circle round till we run out of diesel.

Don't they provide parachutes anymore these days?

Default Christmas markets

Why not try the one in Strasbourg? I don't think you would be disappointed. There are plenty of photos and hotel/transport details on the internet.
Geoffrey.
