When I went to Malta I was collected by a Taxi from the airport to take me to the hotel, the driver what an absolute nut case driving like crazy, I politely asked him "which side of the road do they drive on here", his answer was "sir, we drive in the shade"

First time I went to Malta GC was in '79 and hired a car for two week and I think they only had one set of traffic lights and, not sure but, think they were in Mosta and both sets were always on green.

The other thing that I remember was everyone drove with one hand on the wheel and the other honking the horn none stop, even I got into the swing of it after two weeks.

Well , there is no sign of any member being in Malta , on http://www.mapservices.org/myguestmap/map/75andztmap !!!! And I think we only had 2 additional members add their locations over the last month.

Given the number of new members joining each day (not sure how many members are in the club now - hint to directors?) but I am sure there much be 75 and ZT owners on each of the various Islands in the Med.. So along with welcoming each one perhaps we could at the same time encourage each of them to to place their location on http://www.mapservices.org/myguestmap/map/75andztmap , it may assist in there being more local and self help groups even amoung members in the southern hemisphere.!!!!

Yes, I am 'bumping' the locations issue along

Regards to all

The one set you are thinking of was in Msida just by the sea-front - and they were really "just" for a pedestrian crossing. Now Malta is festooned all over the place with the things ... including speed cameras I am told ...

I'm just back from New York, and the horn honking there reminded me of dear old Malta

Taxi drivers are notorious in Malta - the priority on the roads is busses, taxis then anything bigger than you ... for the rest its just see if you can stick your nose in first and you are in ... (for example, be careful when stopping at a roundabout in Malta - the guy behind you might well tail-gate you, I'm who stops at a roundabout???! ... )

Sorry, I understated it! I went out there in 1946 although I was only 2 weeks old so recollections are rather hazy!

My father was serving in the Royal Navy and trying to stop Jews going to Palestine by sea. Once the trouble was over his replacement was one Philip Mountbatten who also took his young wife out to Malta.....

Just came back from there chaps and sadly a lot less british metal over there these days..darn MOT test and EU membership! surprising amount of Morris Marina's still going strong as I read somewhere that 99% had been scrapped making it the most scrapped car..

did see two 75's - one with the reg no. ROV-075 funnily enough I actually saw that car 4 yeras ago when I last stayed there.
