Thanks Michael. I have used Castrol Magnatec which judging from the sticker I found was what had been used previously and what the local agent uses. The filter came from Auckland. The actual change process was dead simple. Can't understand why some would want to suck it out the top although it helps having a pit to work in. Regards.

Hi Michael,

It was good to catch up by phone. Enjoy your trip, and we should catch up later and arrange a mini rally!

Hi all - just back from a three week cruise in the sounds and catching up on the mail.
Hope you all had a great Christmas and have a very happy new year…

On to the current topic - my two bits worth are as follows.

Engine Oil – I prefer Castrol Magnatec 10w -50 (semi-synthetic)
Gearbox Oil – basically any Dexron 3 spec oil is OK

Pick one brand and stick with it – don’t mix oils and/or keep changing brand/type each oil change etc.

One last thought - It seems to me that there really are more 75’s in Christchurch than the rest of NZ put together!

Well, people say that Christchurch is rather "English" don't they! Except of course for recent arrivals from the UK, who often struggle to see much that's English, apart from parts of the river and the few remaining neo-gothic buildings. Yes, there are a few more 75's on the road now. I saw two in one drive home the other day. Neither responded when I flashed my headlights at them. Philistines!

Very very jealous chaps - spent almost 4 years of bliss in Christchurch, trying for a sabbatical back to Christchurch in the next few years, but hope to visit before then - it has been more that 10 years since I was there now though

Yes Christopher it's still a great city and certainly beautiful today - warm and sunny! After 10 years you'll see quite a few changes, some good and some not so good - progress! Ha. Great place to live though - I wouldn't wish to move out, that's for sure. If you do make it over you won't have far to look for some company, that's for sure!

Happy to talk Christchurch any time - it is a wonderful place My son was born there and I have very fond memories of the place. I probably will not be attending the Southampton meet but there will be other opportunities I am sure.

All the best

New Year greetings from the sunny capital of New Zealand.
I use Castrol Magnatec and oil filters ex Roverland in Auckland.
From previous postings it would seem that the Texaco ATF??? is the only oil to use in the Jatco auto transmission. However, it does not appear to be available in NZ.
Graham, would appreciate a call. 562 8321.
Regards
John
