Yesterday I was a bag of nerves. Today, I am okay. I do keep a weapon in the bedroom! so far not had to use it lol
Hmmm,we could start a whole new thread about that, but,as recent threads & events have proved, this forum is neither the place or time for that. Best of luck Phil, hope everything stays reasonably stable for you,& hope to see you soon over here

That's OK Phil, it's getting easier now but we still have down moments. My wife was very close to my parents as well, she is from the far east and they took her under their wing.

Apart from being there with both my parents I was there myself a while ago with a burst appendix. I went to the docs earlier in the day with stomach pains, she said it was a bug. That afternoon I was instantaneously in crippling pain, like somebody flicked a switch. Ging phoned the doc, stupid ***** said it was stomach cramps, I'm literally screaming in pain in the background and she's telling Ging it's stomach cramps. First time I have ever told anyone to phone an ambulance for me, into A&E stoned on morphine, tests, scans etc. They called the surgeon in at 3am to take the appendix out, a week in hospital on IV antibiotics etc. Said it was the worst appendix they had seen in a long time, the instantaneously pain was the appendix actually bursting.

I have worked in A&E and in theatre when I was at the Mayday Hosp in Croydon and know how painful an acute appendix can be. Your so lucky it did not go onto Peritonitis... Maybe you had it and they did not want to worry you. In relation to that Steve, I hope you are doing okay and have recovered?

It is very sad losing our parents and not expecting it or having more time with them, or not being able to say goodbye. I hope things get better for you both

As I said Phil, it is getting "easier" but we still have down moments, my father had always been fit then had a major stroke, I think my mother couldn't go on without him.

Re the appendix, yeh, I'm fine now but don't let anyone kid you on that keyhole surgery is less painful! I got an infection in one of the incisions, looks like a bullet wound now.

My cousin had an even worse one, his burst when he was on a train! By the time anybody realised what was going on, got the train stopped, got him to a hospital it was so bad that he ended up in an induced coma. Ok now.

Evening all, sorry for my late arrival.
Was having an enjoyable Skype call with Sean ( Radioguy )
Who would have thought you would be able to video call to friends around the four corners of the globe for as long as you care to talk to each other and it costs nothing
The world has some serious issues as you guys have just eluded to but some things are good.
The world is a much smaller place due to the technology man has invented.
Now we all just need to learn to get along in this 'brave new world' !

I believe it can be very bad if medical intervention isn't administered.
Septicaemia I think and that is not good!
Glad you and your cousin have made full recoveries from your burst appendixes
