Well That Took a While
At the end of my road is a cross roads and over the other side there has been an issue with the road for a while now.
Around 2007 a utility company, by now I have forgotten which, dug up a channel from one kerb to the other, did what ever and filled it in. Over the next couple of years the ground sank and by 2009 it had settled leaving a trough about 3' wide and 6" deep. It runs the full width of the road about 4' from the give way line. If you like its a sleeping policeman in reverse and is an absolute pain. This morning they came to fix it. |

Councils have a duty to inspect (but often need telling) and then the utility company has 8 weeks to rectify. Most repairs need a follow up but there are never enough staff to undertake.
