Please find pics below of the latest mdf rings. These now fit ISO 6.5 speakers, as bought fitted and tested in my car today.

Including fitting the tweeters and crossover box as below.(I fitted the new ones into the OEM housings)

WOW what a difference it all makes, the base is now there, no rattling and the tweeters are the cherry on the top.
The new rings are made up ready be cut and sanded in the next day or so.

I assume the HK speakers will work fine with these ???
I am still of the opinion that the mdf does not do anything for the back, but not a problem if you want them.

I have 2 sets of Rover ones. £ 22 posted.
and 5 sets of ISO ones £ 26 posted
to included the back ones £ 30 posted

Please PM me for my paypal account, even if you have before just to confirm.

Thanks

Craig

Just got back from a trip, Jakg sent me this picture of his speakers in the new iso rings, so it seems that they do work for all speakers.
Seems to be a few that want the back set as well, I will make some over the weekend.

Just some answers to generic questions.
The pop marks in the pictures below are where I have drilled holes to screw the rings onto the doors. With self tappers(4x45). As I have said before, there are wires behind the speakers, so be carefull where you drill!!!!.

The rings do go on top of the door insulation, and seem to find their own position, but double check by putting the plastic oem rings on top to confirm the position.

Put the wires under the rings before screwing them into place.

Check the post below for types/prices and PM me if you would like some, as I am back at school next week.

Time for some stupid questions.

To fit, I take it I line it up, and drill through into the door?

You said I should secure it using self-tappers - any particular size / type?

Thats correct jack, I used 4x40mm chipboard screws-countersink type.
To check to aligment, although they do seem to centre themselves, use the plastic rings to check they are correct. they can be a few mm off.

Plese check the wires behind the insulation, but leave the insulation in place.

Use a 1.2-2mm drill, but be carefull it does not snap.

Hi Ragman have you recieved your rings for the back doors ?

Swordy as per our PM I will get yours off asap.

I have been very busy at work the last few weeks, but if there was anyone else that had wanted some ring and have not received an answer, I have 2 set of each left for the front and one rear Rover set.

I must say that I finished my tweeters the other night and with all the rings in, the sound out of the DD is actually quite good. I can listen to the base with the sound up and no rattling or distortion. This with no amps either.

Thanks to Jakg for starting this thread to make our cars even better.
