Default "The Sat Nav Directed Me!"

As a dinosaur, and one who will not have a "sat nav", I cannot comprehend the mentality of someone who follows the electronic instruction when clearly driving into a muddy field should be fairly obviously be wrong....

Looks like some people need the training.

Not sure if it should stay, for most people the roads are too busy to do one. But still it does teach car control.

You can always implement the handbrake turn, gets you pointing the opposite direction much quicker

Used to be called 'guidance' for a reason.

That's one reason for preferring the mk3 nav over the google thing. It just says when there's a turn coming up, and then when you get to a roundabout/turn that 'here it is' take ... exit. The google thing keeps trying to boss me all the way around a roundabout, 'Take the third exit at the next roundabout'... then you get to the roundabout 'Take the third exit on the A##' then when you're on the roundabout 'Exit the roundabout now!' Even once you've left the roundabout there's more about the next junction, even if it's ten miles away!

If I decide not to follow the guidance then that's my decision. I've decided before not to go down single carriageway roads just because they (in theory) are the fastest route. When in fact going the longer way on the more major road with a lower speed limit is actually faster.

Sat Navs have their place but some of the stories do make you wonder what on earth the drivers were thinking of.

Indeed, like an earlier thread on here where some woman, sorry ... person, drove 5 miles off road before being sunk in a bog Common sense sometimes needs to be applied over the "assumption" of a piece of electronics updated by humans that have never been there
