I actually tried to help the owner out when it was first listed on ebay but he said he was fed up and not bothering anymore just wanted it gone. Even told him to come here and get help but no interested.

So yesterday evening I phoned and spoke to his wife to let her know that the car was sorted and now MOT'd. She seemed a bit shocked to tell the truth. I did point out that it has taken a week of fairly intensive work to get her sorted and of course another £269.

Wonder how Barry (hubby) took the news?

Somebody on the faceache group scrapped a nice 2.0 last week. It had an oil leak & he said he didn't have time. That's someone on an enthusiasts group. Ridiculous!

To many people, a car is just a means of getting from A to B, so if it fails to work, the 'modern' way seems to be to throw it away and buy another

Great that you tried to help though, you can't really do any more than that
