ZT front fog light removal

I've broken a front fog light and got a replacement, have I imagined it or did I read on here the fog light surround can be prized out to enable replacement without bumper removal

The fog lights are screwed in from the back. You could just about remove them with just the under tray dropped down, but quite often the screws are seized and need drilling out so you have have to remove the bumper anyway.
