I've just sat down in the conservatory (it's been way to warm in there for me this afternoon) and I noticed a few bees flying into a hole halfway up the back wall, then a dozen or so appeared that hole is where something was screwed in years ago & doesn't go into the cavity, Hosepipe jobby on them.

No i'm not killing bees, just scaring them off, they're the smallest bees I've ever seen. We keep getting them under the eaves in the attic. Wasps are a different kettle of fish.

And a very nice stealth train it looks too.

We had a wasp infestation in the garage in recent years. After a summer of constant skirmishes with them I removed the nest in the autumn when the last of them died naturally. I gather that they will not occupy a space which they perceive to be already taken by another colony and one way to trick them apparently is to blow up a paper bag and hang it in what might be a space of interest to them. You can buy ready made paper decoys for the purpose on the internet but it is something which I have yet to get around to trying. |

Morning all from sunny Saltash.
Out last night up to Torquay for the surprise birthday mean for Shirley, Matt’s better ‘alf. Very nice grub in the Sloop. The Bear done the run with Allen n Val as passengers. I’m off to the MG Owners Club breakfast meet this morning down at Trevaskis Farm Restaurant then a wee drive out. Allen is giving this one a miss as he wants to get his boat finished off, it’s going back into the water this week. Redfive is doing the trip.

Sadly Freddie never got to see the new boat. He was due to visit me on the day he passed away. Here is a picture of Freddie helming our first boat from a few years back though. A very much missed friend. CC9J2288 by Jeff Cranwell, on Flickr
