Jesus! There’s now a tree down north of Carlisle! Currently stuck at Penrith.

And then I'll hold you in my dreams

I do but looks extremely doubtful if I’ll be able to get further than Carlisle.

Evening all, temporary water for the animals installed!

Found an old school steel stockist for some bits and pieces to finish off the barn security ( a steel barrier behind the doors)

Now time for a beer....

Sounds like a bad day Steve, Is it all due to storm Babet. It's never stopped raining all day here with that strong north easterly wind.

Cool

Evening all.

Not a happy person. Someone has scratched my Fiesta not keyed but the scratch’s are vertical, looks like a dog has jumped up and clawed my rear door on the drivers side. I’ve had a go at polishing out the scratches in between the rain showers.

Been on the wagon for two weeks but after today I might just have to set fire to the wagon.

Chicken casserole, jacket spud and green beans for tea.

The journey from hell finally ended when I got home at 22:30, left Manchester Airport at 11:15 for a journey that should have been under 4 hours. I think Ging arrived in Dubai before I got home

Got to Preston, a freight train had failed at Shap, finally left Preston, freight train failed again around Oxenholme. By now we were in a queue of trains trying to go north, signal to signal. Eventually got to Penrith, they announced there were no services north of Carlisle due to a tree being down at Lockerbie and the weather in general. Carlisle station was stacked up so we sat . . . . and sat . . . . and sat until it got to the point that the TransPennine crew had no time, we were detrained and the set left empty heading back south. Eventually a packed Avanti West Coast arrived but we still didn't go anywhere . . . . for hours. Finally got into Carlisle and were pointed to a HUGE queue waiting for taxis north to Glasgow and Edinburgh, joined the slow moving queue. I only took meds with me for last night and this morning, by 20:00 I was starting to feel "off", for the first time in my life I played the "health" card, spoke to one of the Transport Police "managing" the taxi queue who took me to the sergeant. "Right, follow me", took me out another door bypassing the queue and he spoke to an Avanti West Coast guy allocating the taxis outside the station. Spoke to him and within minutes I was in a taxi on my own heading home, as it turned out, right to the front door after the driver called his office, as he said its all the same to me, Avanti is paying anyway.. Felt a bit guilty about bypassing everyone but I come first. Taxi driver was a nice guy as well.

Girls were delighted to see daddy.

Good morning Steve

What a miserable day you had with the trains. A story with a happy ending.
