Chrome Door Seal Trims (paint flaking))

Hi guys, the colour coded paint is flaking on the chrome door seal trims on bothsides. I have picked off the loose bits, but the rest of the paint is solid and will not come off.

Do I need to use paint stripper?

How easy is it to take the trims off, do the clips break, where can I buy new clips?

are you talking about the waist trim or the window surround?

Hi Pete, the long strips that go along bottom of car, above the seals. Normally chrome on the 75's, and colour coded on the ZT's, the paint flakes off and reveals the chrome underneath.

There is a technique using a bit of string.... if you search the how to's you may find it there...

my way ..

Pull up and tease out/unclip at the top only , any tweaking at the bottom is guaranteed to break a clip, do each clip separately..

Smother in stripper and cover in plastic or cling film to stop it drying out , and this speeds up the stripper a great deal.
