What a superb looking unit.

Don't think it will be a straight swap for the hiline, The tuner is in the boot, so the screen is just a dumb unit. would be nice if it does though.

Does that mean, when you replace the hiline with this unit you have no tv (no problem) but also no radio?

I would imagine that the tuner outputs would have to be linked into the existing speaker harness and eliminate the radio tuner.

Got to say I have no knowlage of doing this but it seems to make sense as the original tv and radio tuners are in the boot. Anybody help out here?

Looking good, and I like the fact that the steering wheel controls would work with no extra expense (current Sony unit doesn't allow this)

On the other hand, I too wouldn't want a front USB (and I'd need to know that the unit could read from my current 40GB hard drive, residing in the glove box)

Think you have a point there.

Default Hi LINE

ERIC, it doesn't matter where the Hi line TV tuner and Sat nav units are since this unit will make them obsolete. It is my understanding that you just have to give it a power supply and hook up the speakers and aerials and it should be fine. I just don't know if it will be a simple plug in job? My Freeview TV
tuner will just plug in to it too. Could one of the experts please clarify please as I am sure I am overlooking something!

I think Eric and i understand that the old tuners in the boot are made obsolete. The question that prevails is where do the speakers join in to the system on the HiLine? If they are run direct from the tuners in the boot as opposed to the head unit, then it may be the speaker outputs from the new unit will have to be taken to the speakers them selves or the boot.

On the other hand it could be there is a standard harness in place already that is just taped up somewhere behind the head unit

I would think that you would have to get a BMW to ISO lead and plug it into the BMW connector on the main loom at the bottom of the central console. When I retrofitted hiline I had to do the reverse as the later cars did not have the BMW plug.

I have to say that this looks amazing and exactly what I've been waiting for..

After Christmas is over I'll be contacting the company to get one but I'm hoping they can give me a Rover logo.

I'll also be putting my TOM TOM install on it.

I think the answer will be the option mentioned by stubs (I hope )
