Well, I've done it.. put the deposit down on the car. The AA have just got to check it out and then I can collect form Wednesday. It's a lovely copperleaf red one with 49k on the clock. The trader only gives a 1 month / 4000 mile guarantee on it though but then the place is about 100 miles from me so it'd have to be fairly major for me to bother taking it back there to fix.

Will have a think about whether to gamble or go for a 3rd party warranty or not.

The trader will have to warrant it whether he like it or not for 6 months from purchase for any defect that would not count as fair wear and tear for the car's age and mileage.... As the car is covered under the sale of goods act.
