Default handbrake carpet

Hi Guys & Gals,

right i have just got complete second hand/new sub frame, upper and lower suspension arms, hubs, coils springs etc etc etc... the handbrake cables from the doner car are virtually brand new and also the bracket has been modified. i had to cut the carpet to get the panel out to access the cables so who knows how to access the panel without taken drastic action like cutting carpet in my 75?

Are you good at wrestling? Easiest way is rear seat base lift up & pull the carpet from under. Then remove rear ashtray from the centre console & remove the bolt. Remove 2 screws either side of the centre console just near the seat belt. Now you need a piece of wood or a strong willing helper to lift the console, while you roll the carpet up under the console & support it with the wood. This will give you access to the cover plate & the torx screws holding it. Remove these, lift the plate & do what you need to do
Refitting, as they say, reverse of this. Have fun

I think you also need to remove the plastic trim between door rubber and carpet by the rear doors.
I'd even go so far as to say take the fronts seats out. I found it a real battle
to do this job.
While there, I'd suggest fitting a modified handbrake compensator
