Tony,
You seem to have reached an impasse so I think it's time for back to basics. In your shoes I would note the orientation of the wires in your original camshaft sensor (you have still got it I hope). Now align those with the different colours on your link lead so that you know which of these corresponds to the original loom wiring colours in the car's loom. If there's a cross connection, it will come to light. Next, remove one of the left-hand bank plugs and check for a spark. Does the chosen cylinder smell of fuel? Also use your multimeter to check that the fuel pump is getting a 12v supply when the engine is cranked. There's also a possibility that the engine is flooded following the repeated starting attempts. To address this, depress the accelerator pedal fully and hold it there whilst cranking. You may need several attempts but listen for signs of firing. Simon

Check for fuel filter slackening (aka FFS). The aggressive fuel spraying test doesn't mean very much I'm afraid. It has to be 50psi min for the engine to start. Remember FFS is the No1 cause of sudden non-starting in later petrol models, so well worth a look-see. Whip off the inspection hatch under the LH rear seat and see whether the filter module has the Orange Clip (FOC) in place. If not, fit one. TC |
