Default Reverse proximity.

Is there a reasonably quick fix for a proximity warning fault? Getting a 5 second continuous bleep then nothing when reverse is selected when approaching a wall or similar danger area. Can it be as simple as one sensor?

If you get a continual bleep for 5 seconds, it means that you have a problem. Yes it could be one sensor. Broken wire perhaps.

Trying to resolve the same problem on my car. If you turn ignition on (don't start car), select reverse, then check reverse lights are on, and then by putting your ear close to each ultrasonic sensor, you should be able to hear them clicking. Two of mine weren't, so I then checked wiring (Which involved bumper removal, and RH trim panel in the boot). Wiring OK, so have ordered two new sensors, which will hopefully fix the problem. TOAF also reported two sensors open/short circuit. (Which could be wiring or sensors). Why two sensors failed at some point (the car is new to me), I have no idea.

I have an intermittent situation. Sometimes it works properly, sometimes I get a long beep of death, and sometimes I get a strange melody!

From the listen test at the bumper, the ticking wasn't audible on one sensor. But sometimes it is. The wiring looks good and the loom is the older (better quality) design.

I think I have one dodgy sensor. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

If anyone has a sensor in royal blue...

Do you use a power washer to clean your car? If you do, that could have caused the problem.

I do use a power washer but it operates below its original spec due to age. Not unlike its owner. I'll check re the listening suggestion. Thanks.

You can verify wiring as being ok, by swapping a clicking (working) sensor with a silent one. If it clicks in the new.location then wiring is likely good.
