Default How unprofessional

My goodness I am staggered that companies send such unprofessional emails to staff let alone customers.

This is what I have received, no explanation, no previous heads up, nothing. With so many scams it would be easy to ignore this.

Please find attached test payslip/summary sheet
You will be asked for a Password to open your payslip it is your NI number (use capital letters)

Any problems please call us on tele number removed
Regards

Personally my view is they they presume every body wants everything on there PC or in a digital format, personally I prefer a piece of paper. Almost every month I get something from my bank, credit card company or other service saying I should be going paperless. My credit card statement arrives in the post and I put it in my diary to remind me to pay it. Yes it might be old fashioned but its not reliant on batteries or electricity so it gets paid on time.

I must admit I can't see the security problem. Personally addressed/sent to the recipient, if anyone else opens it, no details given. The correct person only, with their NI number, would be the only person to open the details. My last firm before retirement, a big international, went paperless, I saw no problems with it.

It does state it is a test. The subsequent information/payslip/website may be a different system, or may require a different password.

I thought the OP was about the lack of information and poor diction. But it read to me as though the email was requested, and therefore whilst it was sparse on info, if it had been requested, it could be deemed to be an informal (very) email.

Occasionally I will get emails like this, albeit with better diction, where I have to use either my payroll number or ni number. But the next stage is to create a password. It is still not secure, however it will highlight immediately an issue.

the email was not requested and when I got it I had no idea what it was about. I thought instead of getting a paper payslip it was going to be digital.

turns out it is a digital payslip for a day in December that they had forgotten to pay me for. my issues is no explanation.
