Default Front wheel rumble ?

I can hear a distinct rumble recently, sounds as though it is coming from offside front wheel, still there if I knock out of gear.

I would swap the two wheels and check for bearing play

I had a bearing go recently. Most people said the good old check for play but there was none noticeable, but the noise was unbearable (enjoyed very loud music on the motorway for a few weeks) Replaced the bearing and its peaceful again. One test I did that helped determine it was my front bearing was to lift the car onto blocks and run the engine in 5th gear and listen to the wheels turned to each side and straight ahead, carefully stopping one side with my boot -be very careful if you do it!!

I'd say its more than likely going to be bearing, does it increase in noise if you go round corners?
