Diesel in tank pump test?
I've stuck my head to the filler opening and didn't hear anything definitive. Lifted the rear seat and lifted the pump out a couple of inches and listened closely and there was the faintest whirring that could have been the sound of fuel in the tank being sucked up by the bonnet pump. I felt no vibration from the object I was holding nor any noise coming straight from it
When listening for the noise of the in tank pump how definitive should it be? Checking this as I do have the crazy fuel gauge when it gets down to a quarter And I am checking on the correct side aren't I? Drivers side,/right hand side/offside Tia

I think you can disconnect the UBP and check to see if fuel is getting up to that but the main tell tail is the car wont start with less than quater of a tank
