Default Fuel Gauge goes down halfway then goes up again

For a few weeks now the gauge has been odd, Im thinking it may be a sign of the intank pump not working or some damage/dislocation to the floats?

The gauge shows full as normal when filled with fuel, and gradually goes down to about halfway, at which point it starts going up again. So the fuel gauge shows Full when tank is full, halfway when its half full, and shows full when its empty -or would, but after it ran dry a few weeks ago we have been topping it up regularly.

Any ideas?

lol I have the opposite the tank shows empty until at half a tank then shows half a tank and down ...

its the float sender lol

got a new pump ready to install ill live with it for now although its frustrating not knowing exactly how much fuel is in there

sometimes it will show just above the red next time you turn it on its crept up again

Hi, as you can see "full" mean high sender resistor .
i think the sliding contact is incorrect in the half way zone
