Petrol/Diesel driveshaft difference
I'm fairly certain I know the answer to this, but just to be sure
Are the petrol and diesel driveshafts different?

Every engine and variation of gearbox creates a wide range of Part Numbers. The only way to determine any common fit shafts is to trawl through the Part Numbers. I somehow doubt there are many.

Yes they are different. Also auto and manual are different, specific to engine and transmission variant, e.g. diesel auto or diesel manual.
